Veteran New York Yankees radio broadcaster John Sterling returned to the booth on Sunday evening, one night after being struck by a foul ball during the Yankees' 3-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.
Sterling was hit in the face by the ball in the ninth inning of Saturday's game, prompting a brief delay. WFAN partner Suzyn Waldman said that Sterling was "OK" after being hit, but he did not return to the booth for the rest of the game.
Sterling is a beloved figure in New York, having called Yankees games for nearly 50 years. He is known for his signature home run call, "It is high, it is far, it is gone!"
The Yankees are currently in first place in the American League East, with a record of 40-22. They will face the Rangers again on Monday night at Yankee Stadium.
