Djokovic Suffers Knee Injury in Fourth Round
Match Suspended, Outcome Uncertain
World No. 1 Novak Đoković sustained a knee injury during his fourth-round match at the Roland Garros tournament on Monday. The Serbian was playing against Francisco Cerundolo when the incident occurred in the first set with Đoković leading 4-1.
Đoković immediately called for a medical timeout and received treatment on the court. He attempted to continue playing but was clearly hampered by the injury. The match was eventually suspended with Đoković trailing 6-3, 2-6, 3-1.
The extent of Đoković's injury is not yet known, but it is a major blow to his hopes of winning a record-breaking 22nd Grand Slam title. He has been in excellent form this season, winning the Australian Open and the Rome Masters.
