Southwest Flight 1380 Forced Down

Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Engine Damage

Southwest Flight 1380 Forced Down

Engine Cover Detached On Takeoff

A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Denver, Colorado on Sunday morning after the engine cover detached during takeoff. According to the airline, Southwest Flight 3695 was en route to Houston when its engine cowling came off and struck the wing flap around 8:15 am, forcing the plane to turn back to Denver.

The plane landed safely at Denver International Airport around 9:00 am. There were no injuries reported among the 149 passengers and crew members on board.

The cause of the engine cover detachment is under investigation. Southwest Airlines said it is working with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to determine what caused the incident.

This is the second time in recent weeks that a Southwest Airlines flight has been forced to make an emergency landing due to an engine problem. On July 20, a Southwest flight from Chicago to Dallas had to make an emergency landing in Birmingham, Alabama after one of its engines failed.

Despite these recent incidents, Southwest Airlines has a good safety record. The airline has not had a fatal accident in over 50 years.
